A New Era for Football in Ratho: Ratho Athletic & Ratho United Join Forces

We’re proud to share some exciting news about the future of football in our village. Ratho Athletic and Ratho United are coming together to form one united club, built for the community and by the community.

Ratho United, the youth team that has been a pillar of grassroots football in our village, has been exceptionally run by everyone involved over the years. Their dedication to nurturing young talent has been nothing short of inspiring. At Ratho Athletic, we currently run a Saturday amateur team and our newly formed over 35’s team. With this collaboration, we aim to create a pathway that offers football for all age groups, from our youngest players right through to adult teams.

A few months ago, we held a meeting with the team at Ratho United to share our vision and long-term goals. The objective is simple: to provide the village — and the wider Ratho community, with a well-structured club that supports football at every level. We discussed key topics such as facilities, finance, sponsorship, and pitches, and came to a clear conclusion: we can achieve much more together than apart.

This isn’t a change that will happen overnight. Both clubs will continue to operate as usual for now, while we work behind the scenes to build the foundations for this exciting new chapter. Our aim is to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible.

We’re calling on the community to be part of this journey. Whether you're a coach, a helper, or someone who just wants to get involved, we’ll be looking for volunteers across a number of areas, from coaching to committee support and everything in between. Our long-term goal is clear: to have every Ratho team playing their football right here in the village. Seeing Ratho United 2013s play down the park recently has been incredible, and we want to bring more of that energy and community spirit to every corner of Ratho.
