Match Report: Edinburgh North 5-2 Ratho Athletic

A tough day at the office for Ratho Athletic as they suffered a disappointing 5-2 defeat away to Edinburgh North, dropping three crucial points in the league campaign. The hosts were deserved winners, controlling the game from start to finish, while Ratho endured a disastrous 20-minute spell that ultimately sealed their fate.

Edinburgh North struck three times in quick succession, netting three goals in just five minutes midway through the first half. Ratho struggled to recover from the collapse but managed to pull one back just before half-time, offering a glimmer of hope going into the break at 3-1.

The second half saw Ratho start slightly brighter, but Edinburgh North soon regained full control, adding two more goals to extend their lead. A late consolation goal from Bobbie Gallacher – his first for the club – was the only real positive on an otherwise forgettable day. Bobbie’s relentless work rate and commitment never go unnoticed, and seeing him finally get on the scoresheet was a deserved moment of celebration, despite the overall result.

After the game, Co-Manager Bradley, in his final match before serving a touchline ban, didn’t hold back in his assessment:

“An outrageous 10 minutes from us has cost us the game. Second to everything, decision-making miles off it, and we didn’t deserve anything from the game.”

Co-Manager David Whelan echoed the frustration, saying:

“Started the game well, then five minutes of madness cost us. From that point on, we were constantly chasing the game and having to go for it.”

What’s Next?

Ratho Athletic have a free week coming up, with no fixture next weekend. The focus now shifts to a big home clash against Tollcross on March 22nd, where the squad will look to bounce back and put things right.
