Ratho Athletic returned from their away clash with Edinburgh Strollers with a point, though it feels like we left with less than we deserved after a well-fought performance.
The first half was an intense, end-to-end battle. Both sides created chances, with Strollers coming closest as their winger broke through our defense. Only a brilliant save from Danny kept the score level and gave us a solid foundation to build on for the second half.
As the game progressed, Ratho took greater control. Our midfield and forwards linked up well, applying consistent pressure and creating chances. Dean almost broke the deadlock with a beautifully taken free kick, forcing an exceptional save from the Strollers’ keeper.
Defensively, Ratho stood strong, with some excellent teamwork at the back to keep Strollers’ chances limited. The home side did get a bit of luck with a deflected shot that struck the bar, but otherwise, Ratho’s defense was up to the task. In the dying minutes, a well-placed cross found Scott Henney, who rose to meet it but narrowly missed the target with a header over the bar.
Though the match ended scoreless, there’s no question that Ratho Athletic put in a performance deserving of more. It’s a point on the road, but we’ll look to build on this momentum in our next fixture at home against Mill AFC next Saturday.
Final Score: Edinburgh Strollers 0 - 0 Ratho Athletic
