MATCH REPORT: RATHO ATHLETIC 2-2 TRANENT

Ratho Athletic battled to a hard-fought draw against Tranent at Winchburgh Academy on Saturday, in a game that saw plenty of action and drama but ended with the points shared.

First Half

The game began evenly, with both sides probing but creating little to separate them. However, Tranent struck first in the 10th minute, hitting Ratho on the counter-attack to take the lead against the run of play.

Ratho responded well, creating some of the better chances in the half, with dangerous deliveries into the box causing problems for the Tranent defense. Despite their efforts, the finishing touch eluded Ratho, and the score remained 1-0 to Tranent at the break.

Second Half

The second half saw Ratho come out on the front foot, and their pressure paid off almost immediately. In the 47th minute, James Mabon leveled the score with a deadly strike from inside the box.

However, Tranent regained the lead shortly after with a moment of quality. A long ball forward fell to their midfielder, who unleashed a superb volley that went in off the post, putting Ratho 2-1 down.

Refusing to back down, Ratho continued to press and found their second equaliser in the 62nd minute. Adam Forrest pounced to bring the scores level once more, capping off a well-worked move.

End-to-End Drama

The final stages of the game were frenetic, with both teams pushing for a winner. Tranent looked to exploit the long ball over the top, while Ratho focused on building through midfield and breaking down the defense.

Key moments included a brilliant goal-line clearance by Reece Weir and some outstanding saves from goalkeeper Danny MacKenzie, keeping Ratho in the game. Up the other end, Ratho came close to snatching all three points, but luck wasn’t on their side.

Final Whistle

The match ended 2-2, leaving Ratho still searching for their first league win of the season. Despite the frustration, it was a strong team performance that showed resilience and fight.
